Child Safeguarding Policy
LIDOSOM’s commitment to safeguarding children
Somali Livelihood Initiative and Disability Organization (LIDOSOM) is committed to upholding its responsibility to ensure that all children are kept safe when participating in its project activities and all aspects of operations such as communications. LIDOSOM also has a duty to take action when there are concerns about the safety of children participating in its programmes, even when the risk has not occurred as a result of our own work. In these instances, LIDOSOM’s role is limited to supporting these children by referring them to appropriate services which can keep them safe and give them the help that they need. Prioritizing the safety of the children that we work with is fundamental to LIDOSOM’s integrity as an organization that aims to put “the wellbeing of children first, in everything we do”.
Ethics and Code of Conduct
LIDOSOM and its employees must, at all times, comply with all applicable laws and regulations in Somalia. LIDOSOM will not condone the activities of employees who achieve results through violation of the law or unethical business dealings. This includes any payments for illegal acts, indirect contributions, rebates, and bribery. LIDOSOM does not permit any activity that fails to stand the closest possible public scrutiny. All business conduct should be well above the minimum standards required by law. Accordingly, employees must ensure that their actions cannot be interpreted as being, in any way, in contravention of the laws and regulations governing LIDOSOM’s operations. Employees uncertain about the application or interpretation of any legal requirements should refer the matter to their supervisor, who, if necessary, should seek appropriate legal advice.
Whistle Blower Policy
Somali Livelihood Initiative and Disability Organization (LIDOSOM) are committed to conducting their business fairly, honestly and with transparency and in compliance with all legal and regulatory obligations. We expect all (LIDOSOM) directors, employees and anyone acting on our behalf to do the same and to maintain the highest standards of ethical business behaviour. However, all organizations face the risk of things going wrong from time to time. A culture of openness and accountability is essential in order to prevent such situations occurring and to address them when they do occur.
A key aspect of ensuring and maintaining Somali Livelihood Initiative and Disability Organization (LIDOSOM) commitment to conducting business with such integrity and in an open and fair manner is providing a robust whistleblowing policy and reporting channel for Somali Livelihood Initiative and Disability Organization (LIDOSOM) so that all colleagues feel able to report any wrongdoing in confidence. At Somali Livelihood Initiative and Disability Organization (LIDOSOM), we encourage employees to report any concerns as soon as they arise; such concerns can be of any nature, including any matters in connection with Somali Livelihood Initiative and Disability Organization (LIDOSOM) personnel, as well as customers, suppliers and other third parties.
