Accountability of LIDOSOM

Accountability of LIDOSOM

The Somali Livelihood Initiative and Disability Organization (LIDOSOM) is committed to the highest standards of accountability, transparency, and integrity in all its operations. As a community-focused organization, LIDOSOM recognizes its responsibility to beneficiaries, donors, partners, and the wider public to ensure that resources are used effectively and ethically to achieve meaningful impact.

1. Accountability to Beneficiaries

LIDOSOM places communities at the center of its work. The organization ensures that beneficiaries—including people with disabilities, women, and children—actively participate in the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs. Feedback mechanisms, including community meetings and complaint response systems, are established to ensure that concerns are heard and addressed promptly, safely, and confidentially.

2. Transparency and Information Sharing

LIDOSOM is committed to openness in its operations. The organization shares relevant information about its programs, objectives, and results with stakeholders. This includes clear communication on project selection criteria, targeting processes, and expected outcomes to build trust and promote community ownership.

3. Financial Accountability

LIDOSOM ensures that all financial resources are managed responsibly and in compliance with donor requirements and organizational policies. Strong financial controls, regular internal reviews, and external audits are conducted to ensure that funds are used efficiently, for their intended purposes, and deliver value for money.

4. Accountability to Donors and Partners

LIDOSOM maintains strong relationships with donors, government institutions, and implementing partners by providing timely, accurate, and high-quality reports. The organization adheres to agreed standards, guidelines, and contractual obligations, ensuring that all interventions are implemented effectively and responsibly.

5. Ethical Standards and Safeguarding

LIDOSOM upholds strict ethical standards in all its activities. The organization is committed to safeguarding vulnerable populations from exploitation, abuse, and harm. Staff and partners are required to adhere to codes of conduct, and safeguarding policies are enforced to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all.

6. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEAL)

LIDOSOM integrates robust monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) systems into its programs. These systems track progress, measure impact, and generate lessons learned to continuously improve the quality and effectiveness of interventions.

7. Inclusion and Non-Discrimination

Accountability at LIDOSOM includes ensuring that all interventions are inclusive and accessible. The organization actively promotes non-discrimination and equal access to services, particularly for marginalized groups, including persons with disabilities.
