BENCHMARK Research and Evaluation Consulting conducted a comprehensive four-day training program for LIDOSOM Board Members, covering key areas of NGO management. The training was divided into distinct sessions, each focusing on a specific topic.
• Day 1 focused on governance and leadership, including understanding roles and responsibilities, effective board structure and dynamics, strategic planning and goal setting, and ethical decision-making and conflict resolution.
• Day 2 covered financial management and fundraising, including financial concepts for nonprofits, budgeting and financial reporting, risk management, and fundraising strategies.
• Day 3 was dedicated to monitoring and evaluation (M&E), including expanding on indicators, understanding the difference between outputs, outcomes, and impact, and ethical considerations in M&E.
• Day 4 dealt with program design and management, including community needs assessment, designing culturally appropriate and sustainable programs, and project management principles. It also focused on advocacy and collaboration, including understanding the role of advocacy for NGOs, strategies for effective communication and campaigning, building partnerships with other organizations and stakeholders, and engaging with government and policy makers.
The training was interactive and engaging, providing participants with practical skills and knowledge that they can apply in their respective organizations. The inclusion of case studies, guest speakers, and group exercises ensured a hands-on learning experience.
